Is having an apartment in the French capital the dream of a lifetime? Kasha Paris makes it come true.

Founded by American couple Alon and Betsy Kasha in 2004 in the heart of the coveted Parisian neighborhood Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the Kasha Paris agency came to redefine the art of a pied-à-terre. With the creation of turnkey apartments coupled with an expertise in architecture, they offer a Parisian experience of excellence. Focused on a clientele who want to live well in Paris on the Left Bank, the agency makes everything easy, catering to their clients’ every need – from sourcing to shopping to interior design.

The agency chooses and creates exceptional properties usually ranging from 100 to 250m2, with special attention to space, natural light, and original architectural details, although both Alon and Betsy are especially found of rethinking small spaces. The couple looks for places that have a unique and rich atmosphere. Kasha Paris manages each stage of the project, starting with the technical work (thermal insulation, acoustics…), always respecting the heritage of the building. Think breathtaking views, corners of greenery, long balconies, high ceilings, moldings, wood paneling, arches, and antiques. Attention is invested in even the smallest of details, such as doorknobs and light switches.

Alon and Betsy create each apartment as if they were their own, while listening attentively to their clients’ wishes. The pair reinterpret luxury design codes by preserving the old, renovating interesting features and using vintage hardware, as well as adding new elements inspired by each aesthetic, such as mosaics in kitchens and bathrooms. They are about reviving dormant spaces, imagining beautiful and vibrant rooms where every material, piece of furniture and object finds its place. They also spread modernity through collaborations with the best French and European craftsmen. “Good design requires functionality, charm and elegance,” say the pair, who have designed more than 100 homes over the past 17 years. Below, the duo tells how Paris has become a never-ending inspiration.

LIFESTYLE MAG: How did you come up with the idea to launch the Kasha Paris agency?

Alon and Betsy Kasha: We launched Kasha Paris in 2004, with the idea of reconceptualizing the art of the pied-à-terre by creating ready-to-use luxury apartments in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, enabling easy entry to Parisian life. In addition to reimagining architecture and interior design, Kasha Paris Real Estate advises our clients in their search for the perfect properties, guiding them through the buying process and offering continuity of services beyond their arrival.

LM: What is the difference between staying in a hotel or an apartment?

ABK: It is a combination of freedom and comfort: a piece of Paris now belongs to you. Even when you are not there, you know that your home will always be waiting for you.

LM: Who is the target audience for this initiative?

ABK: Our pied-à-terre apartments are aimed at a French and international clientele who dream of being on the exquisite left bank of Paris.

LM: What can only the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood in Paris offer?

ABK: Saint-Germain-des-Prés has gained a reputation as one of Paris’ most coveted neighborhoods due to its village charm and rich historical and cultural heritage. In it, you can find exquisite architecture from the 17th and 18th centuries and beautiful gardens, such as the Jardin du Luxembourg.

LM: How are the apartments at Kasha Paris selected?

ABK: When we choose an apartment, it’s not about style or size, but about history and character. We particularly enjoy the challenge of reconfiguring quirky apartments with difficult layouts. The Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood is perfect because it is full of these hidden gems.

LM: Is the decoration done according to the client’s wishes or is it possible to purchase a “ready-made” apartment?

ABK: The decoration is meticulous. Our apartments are executions of our own creative vision and tailor-made to the desires of our clients.

LM: Is there a concern to maintain the “soul” of the property, sometimes old, including restorations or respect for the original materials, or is everything redone?

ABK: Since we work predominantly with 17th, 18th, and 19th century buildings, our mission is to maintain the rich soul and architectural integrity of these apartments, making them functional spaces suitable for modern lifestyles. We have a particular affinity for rare materials. We work with antique stones, original wood floors and panels, moldings, classic door handles, smithed marble, and antique terracotta tiles. We are committed to bringing these apartments back to life by restoring them through the work of our talented teams and craftsmen.

LM: What is the secret of good interior design, to live in Paris?

ABK: Good design requires functionality, charm, and elegance. No amount of one will make up for the lack of another. For example, functional layouts and modern amenities must be combined with charming original architectural details and elegant proportions.
