At 51, the television host reflects on the joys and challenges of being herself.
The voice behind the hit song “Vou de Táxi” knows what she wants and is certain she can count on one important ally: herself. That confidence has helped her thrive, guided by wise choices, including learning to love what she does from a very young age and finding genuine pleasure in it. Spend just a little time watching her, and it becomes clear that her remarkable ease in front of the camera reflects far more than the long and varied experience she has accumulated throughout her career. Here is a capable woman who has done just about everything, yet still has the sparkle in her eyes of someone with so much more ahead of her.
Through a deeply personal connection with herself, she has found her way back during difficult times and made a point of learning from every setback. “Being vulnerable made me more mature and allowed me to take control of my own life,” she admits.
The Many Sides of Angélica, All on the Same Team
One defining example was Angélica’s introduction to the journey of self-discovery. “I started practicing Transcendental Meditation out of sheer necessity! I needed to overcome panic disorder. From there, I began exploring more spiritual and holistic subjects. I had always been interested, but that was when I finally allowed myself to stop and truly experience them.” And so she began exploring a path that gave her a sense of purpose. As she came to know herself better, she decided to leave a positive legacy by sharing the very experience that had sparked her transformation. “I felt a desire to share my journey of self-discovery with women and girls. I decided to open up about my questions and what I had learned, using the power of my public image to reinforce values that are important to human growth.” That vision became a reality with the launch of Mina Bem Estar, a website that reaffirms her commitment to women and to the feminine spirit that nurtures, connects and gives life.
“Being vulnerable made me more mature and allowed me to take control of my own life.”
Curious Mind
Forever curious, always ready to learn from one of life’s wisest teachers. Yes, beyond defining herself as a television host, actress, singer and mother to Joaquim, Benício and Eva, Angélica also considers herself a student of life. Exploring new paths and chapters offers her an opportunity to continually discover more about herself, embrace change and evolve. “I believe in myself, in my ability to do my job well and in the power of love. Now that I’m over 50, I feel calmer and wiser, with more energy to enjoy life. These days, I focus only on what truly matters,” she shares.
Family Takes Center Stage
Family, especially her three children and her husband, Luciano Huck, remains at the heart of her life. Her marriage is built on a partnership spanning two decades, one that remains very much alive through mutual interest, affection and care. For Angélica, relationships are dynamic, and their success depends on the ability to reinvent themselves and keep the magic alive. “I feel that we have a successful relationship, but that doesn’t mean we’ve got it all figured out! Together, we’re constantly evolving.
We’re different people who truly want to be together and who do everything we can to make the relationship work.” The television host is equally enthusiastic about the transformations that come with motherhood. “My children renew me. They take me back to the past, but they also lead me toward the future through their own dreams and desires,” she says. Whenever possible, she spends time with them, whether in the rhythm of everyday life or on vacation. Without the joyful chaos of family life, including their lovable dogs, even the most idyllic beaches she loves so much would lose some of their magic.
The Angélica who lives in the collective imagination of Brazilians is associated with many qualities: talent, lightness, strength, resilience, perseverance and intelligence. In this interview, she assures us that the cheerful personality audiences have known for so long on television is becoming increasingly aligned with the essence of the woman behind the public image. She is someone who once left home to escape a traumatic experience and was warmly embraced by an entire country. After nearly five decades in the spotlight, she continues to captivate audiences with an inspiring story shaped by both fairy-tale moments and turbulent waters.
Angélica is one of those women who have the courage to face life’s lows, the composure to celebrate its highs and an elegant ambition to find balance somewhere in between. She embodies success in nearly every dimension of life. Yet what may appear to be an established achievement is, in fact, something she builds every day. It means appreciating the present and fully embracing both the sweetness and bitterness that each day brings. And so she continues, like a young girl who has just turned 51 on November 30, enthusiastic about every discovery she makes, both within herself and in the world around her.
Today, even after appearing on some of Brazil’s biggest media stages, she shows an enviable drive to keep moving forward and exploring new possibilities. She also approaches with remarkable ease a challenge that many celebrities struggle to navigate: having lived much of her life in the public eye, with very little privacy since childhood. “I’ve adapted, and I’ve learned to live well with that reality. Everyone knows the joys and pains of being who they are,” says the television host, who was born in Santo André but, after so many years living in Rio de Janeiro, can now be considered a true carioca.
