A viagem inici\u00e1tica que transformou juventude em heran\u00e7a e fez da Europa uma sala de aula a c\u00e9u aberto<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Houve uma \u00e9poca em que a juventude da nobreza europeia partia de casa n\u00e3o apenas para viajar, mas para atravessar a vida como quem percorre um manuscrito iluminado. Entre os s\u00e9culos XVII e XIX, nascia o Grand Tour, uma peregrina\u00e7\u00e3o pela Europa que era menos turismo e mais rito de passagem, capaz de transformar herdeiros em homens do mundo, moldar sensibilidades e cultivar o olhar diante do belo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

O percurso come\u00e7ava em Londres ou Paris, seguia pelas estradas francesas, atravessava os Alpes su\u00ed\u00e7os e descia \u00e0 pen\u00ednsula it\u00e1lica, onde Roma, Floren\u00e7a, N\u00e1poles e Veneza eram destinos inevit\u00e1veis. Alguns prolongavam a jornada at\u00e9 Atenas ou Constantinopla, em busca de um contato direto com as origens da civiliza\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Foi o escritor brit\u00e2nico Richard Lassels quem, em 1670, cunhou pela primeira vez o termo Grand Tour, defendendo que a It\u00e1lia era a verdadeira escola da dois, tr\u00eas, \u00e0s vezes quatro, sempre acompanhadas de tutores eruditos, capazes de transformar uma ru\u00edna em li\u00e7\u00e3o de filosofia, um afresco em tratado de hist\u00f3ria e um concerto em exerc\u00edcio de sensibilidade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Em Floren\u00e7a, jovens aristocratas aprendiam a copiar esculturas em cadernos de couro; em Roma, assistiam a escava\u00e7\u00f5es de mosaicos rec\u00e9m-descobertos e estudavam latim entre colunas do F\u00f3rum; em N\u00e1poles, subiam o Ves\u00favio e visitavam as ru\u00ednas de Pompeia, abertas ao p\u00fablico em meados do s\u00e9culo XVIII; em Veneza, deixavam-se guiar pela m\u00fasica, pela pintura e at\u00e9 pelas m\u00e1scaras de carnaval, que lhes revelavam outra forma de identidade. Essa demanda criou endere\u00e7os que permanecem at\u00e9 hoje como testemunhas silenciosas do Tour. Em Paris, o Le Meurice, inaugurado em 1835, tornou-se o hotel dos reis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

. Em Veneza, o Danieli, um pal\u00e1cio g\u00f3tico convertido em hospedagem em 1822, ainda preserva o eco dos viajantes que chegavam pela laguna. Em Floren\u00e7a, o Helvetia & Bristol, de 1885, abrigava quem buscava mergulhar na Renascen\u00e7a. Em Roma, tr\u00eas endere\u00e7os se tornaram \u00edcones do circuito: o Hotel d\u2019Inghilterra, com origem no s\u00e9culo XVI e porto seguro dos ingleses; o Hotel de l\u2019Angleterre, escolhido por viajantes franceses e diplomatas; e o Hotel de Russie, inaugurado no in\u00edcio do s\u00e9culo XIX e c\u00e9lebre entre jovens aristocratas e artistas que buscavam uma atmosfera cosmopolita nos jardins pr\u00f3ximos \u00e0 Piazza del Popolo. E na travessia dos Alpes, o Beau-Rivage de Genebra, fundado em 1865, oferecia descanso antes do mergulho na It\u00e1lia <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Foi tamb\u00e9m nesse tempo que nasceu o h\u00e1bito de trazer lembran\u00e7as. Bustos de m\u00e1rmore, gravuras, mapas minuciosos e pequenas esculturas viajavam de volta \u00e0s mans\u00f5es europeias. Esses objetos se transformaram em sementes de cole\u00e7\u00f5es privadas que dariam origem a museus e ajudaram a despertar uma consci\u00eancia patrimonial. O Coliseu, o Pante\u00e3o e tantos templos antigos ganharam nova aten\u00e7\u00e3o porque eram admirados, desenhados e registrados nesses di\u00e1rios de viagem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O Grand Tour influenciou ainda a gastronomia e a moda. Jovens retornavam descrevendo o gosto de vinhos italianos, de queijos su\u00ed\u00e7os, de pratos franceses, trazendo receitas que se reinventavam em suas cozinhas. Os alfaiates londrinos passaram a adaptar cortes e tecidos inspirados no artesanato italiano e no requinte parisiense, espalhando pela Europa uma est\u00e9tica cosmopolita in\u00e9dita. Com o s\u00e9culo XIX, o Tour se abriu \u00e0 burguesia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Escritores e artistas seguiram os mesmos passos, mas com outros olhos. Goethe registrou em seu Viaggio in Italia o deslumbramento diante da Roma antiga. Byron descreveu Veneza como amante eterna, capaz de revelar segredos a cada visita. Mary Shelley encontrou em N\u00e1poles a atmosfera que inspirou p\u00e1ginas arrebatadas. Cada um, a seu modo, fez da viagem literatura, pintura ou mito. Ainda hoje, a heran\u00e7a do Grand Tour ecoa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A no\u00e7\u00e3o de que viajar educa, de que horizontes moldam a alma e de que o contato com a arte \u00e9 capaz de transformar permanece como legado. Mais do que deslocamento, o Tour foi um mapa \u00edntimo da experi\u00eancia humana, uma cartografia do belo. Entre estradas sinuosas, pal\u00e1cios venezianos e jardins suspensos, aqueles jovens aprenderam que a verdadeira riqueza n\u00e3o se mede em moedas, mas em lembran\u00e7as. Que a beleza, uma vez contemplada, muda para sempre a forma de habitar o mundo. E que cada viagem, vivida com aten\u00e7\u00e3o e rever\u00eancia, \u00e9 uma forma secreta de eternidade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
