\n\nDentro do edif\u00edcio Breuer da Sotheby's, Marcel integra a casa de leil\u00f5es, a mesa de jantar e o est\u00fadio de design em um \u00fanico ambiente cuidadosamente selecionado.<\/span>\n\n<\/div>\n\n

\n\nO edif\u00edcio em 945 Avenida Madison<\/strong><\/a> abrigou quatro institui\u00e7\u00f5es em sessenta anos, cada uma acrescentando um novo significado a Marcel Breuer<\/strong><\/a>\u2018A geometria original em concreto. Foi inaugurado em 1966 como o Museu Whitney de Arte Americana<\/strong><\/a>, uma das obras mais assertivas da arquitetura brutalista nos Estados Unidos: granito em balan\u00e7o, volumetria em forma de pir\u00e2mide invertida e aquelas janelas trapezoidais caracter\u00edsticas, que Breuer chamou de \u201colhos\u201d, projetadas para modular a luz que entra nas galerias sem revelar a paisagem urbana externa. O Whitney<\/strong><\/a> Mudou-se para o centro da cidade em 2015. O Met Breuer ocupou o edif\u00edcio de 2016 a 2020. A Cole\u00e7\u00e3o Frick<\/strong><\/a> utilizou-o temporariamente enquanto o seu pr\u00f3prio edif\u00edcio estava em renova\u00e7\u00e3o. Em 2024, Sotheby's<\/strong><\/a> Adquiriram o edif\u00edcio por um valor estimado em cem milh\u00f5es de d\u00f3lares e encomendaram a Herzog e de Meuron a sua restaura\u00e7\u00e3o para servir como a nova sede mundial da casa de leil\u00f5es, uma restaura\u00e7\u00e3o que os arquitetos su\u00ed\u00e7os descreveram como "quase invis\u00edvel", intervindo apenas onde o concreto original exigia reparos estruturais.

Agora o pr\u00e9dio abriga um restaurante. Marcel<\/strong><\/a> Inaugurado em 16 de abril de 2026, uma colabora\u00e7\u00e3o entre a Sotheby's e Romano e Williams<\/strong><\/a>, o est\u00fadio de design nova-iorquino fundado por Robin Standefer e Stephen Alesch. O nome sugere uma dupla interpreta\u00e7\u00e3o: Breuer, o arquiteto formado na Bauhaus que projetou o edif\u00edcio, e Duchamp<\/strong><\/a>, o artista conceitual cuja grande retrospectiva est\u00e1 acontecendo do outro lado da cidade em MoMA<\/strong><\/a> at\u00e9 agosto. Seja a alus\u00e3o intencional ou fortuita, ela se encaixa em uma sala que trata a fronteira entre arte e vida cotidiana como algo a ser dissolvido, em vez de respeitado.<\/span>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n\nNada aqui foi adquirido por conveni\u00eancia, tudo foi escolhido com um prop\u00f3sito.<\/strong><\/span>\n\n<\/div>\n\n
\n\nRomano e Williams<\/strong><\/a> s\u00e3o respons\u00e1veis por alguns dos interiores de restaurantes mais influentes de Nova York nas \u00faltimas duas d\u00e9cadas. O Ace Hotel<\/strong><\/a>, o Hotel Greenwich<\/strong><\/a> sal\u00e3o, Le Coucou<\/strong><\/a>, Os holandeses<\/strong><\/a>Cada projeto estabeleceu um vocabul\u00e1rio material particular, uma densa sobreposi\u00e7\u00e3o de elementos vintage e personalizados que se l\u00ea como herdada em vez de projetada. Seu restaurante no centro da cidade, La Mercerie<\/strong><\/a>, A loja ocupa o t\u00e9rreo da Roman and Williams Guild, a loja de design da dupla no SoHo, e qualquer pessoa que j\u00e1 tenha passado algum tempo l\u00e1 entende o princ\u00edpio que a norteia: artesanato, com\u00e9rcio, arte e os rituais da alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o coexistem no mesmo plano. N\u00e3o h\u00e1 hierarquia entre o croissant e a pe\u00e7a de cer\u00e2mica artesanal em que ele \u00e9 servido.<\/span>\n\n\n\nMarcel estende esse princ\u00edpio para a zona nobre da cidade e para um contexto arquitet\u00f4nico radicalmente diferente. O projeto funciona atrav\u00e9s do que Robin Standefer chamou de \u201ctens\u00e3o coreografada\u201d, o calor e a densidade de uma sensibilidade urbana inseridos na estrutura de concreto disciplinada de Breuer. Paredes revestidas de nogueira. Luz de velas. Bancos de mohair em um tom de cacau empoeirado. Lumin\u00e1rias personalizadas de bronze e vidro fundido, projetadas por Roman and Williams, est\u00e3o penduradas ao lado de lumin\u00e1rias originais que Breuer especificou para o Whitney. O bar \u00e9 uma composi\u00e7\u00e3o espelhada de garrafas de vidro e destilados, onde os coquet\u00e9is chegam em copos japoneses artesanais. Os talheres e utens\u00edlios de servir v\u00eam da Guild, a pr\u00f3pria loja de Roman and Williams, um detalhe que comunica a filosofia do ambiente sem precisar de uma placa: nada aqui \u00e9 adquirido por conveni\u00eancia. Tudo \u00e9 escolhido.<\/span>\n\n\n\nA sala de jantar exibe obras rotativas da cole\u00e7\u00e3o da Sotheby's. Em qualquer noite, as paredes podem conter uma variedade de pe\u00e7as. Andy Warhol<\/strong><\/a>, um Joana Mitchell<\/strong><\/a>, um Calder<\/strong><\/a> m\u00f3vel, ou uma escultura de Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier<\/strong><\/a> e Claude Lalanne<\/strong><\/a>. Vitrines perto da entrada exibem joias de David Webb e Boucheron<\/strong> <\/a>Ao lado de objetos mais inesperados: um fragmento de asteroide, um dente de Tiranossauro Rex. \n\nA cozinha \u00e9 liderada pelo chef-s\u00f3cio. Marie-Aude Rose<\/strong><\/a>, que tamb\u00e9m supervisiona La Mercerie, e chef de pastelaria Rae Gaylord<\/strong><\/a>, que trabalha ao lado de Rose desde a inaugura\u00e7\u00e3o do La Mercerie em 2017. O menu \u00e9 continental com um forte toque franc\u00eas: confit de canard, c\u00f4te de boeuf para duas ou quatro pessoas, salm\u00e3o grelhado, tartines com presunto franc\u00eas e queijo comt\u00e9. Mas o prato que ancora a experi\u00eancia \u00e9 o gratin de cabillaud, um bacalhau envolto em uma crosta dourada de farinha de rosca fina que, por baixo, revela um leito cremoso de pur\u00ea de batatas. \u00c9 um prato de simplicidade enganosa, o tipo de preparo em que a t\u00e9cnica se esconde por tr\u00e1s do conforto, e proporciona o tipo de satisfa\u00e7\u00e3o profunda que menus degusta\u00e7\u00e3o elaborados costumam prometer e raramente alcan\u00e7am. A p\u00e2tisserie funciona como um destino dentro do restaurante, oferecendo madeleines glaceadas, flans cremosos e tortas sazonais que chegam em caixas amarradas com fitas em tons de azul acinzentado, p\u00eassego claro e lavanda.<\/span>\n\n\n\nDo lado de fora, o jardim de esculturas repaginado oferece refei\u00e7\u00f5es do caf\u00e9 da manh\u00e3 ao jantar em meio a \u00e1rvores, esculturas contempor\u00e2neas e um bar ao ar livre, um espa\u00e7o ajardinado que protege os visitantes da agita\u00e7\u00e3o da Madison Avenue, ao mesmo tempo que os imerge na arquitetura do Breuer. \u00c9 um dos lugares mais badalados para comer ao ar livre em Manhattan nesta primavera.<\/span>\n\n\n\nO Marcel est\u00e1 aberto para jantar e, em seguida, oferecer\u00e1 servi\u00e7o completo durante o dia.
