Passeando pelo sul da Europa, essa perspectiva torna-se ainda mais evidente. A arquitetura tradicional foi projetada para refrescar o ambiente sem esfor\u00e7o mec\u00e2nico: paredes grossas que ret\u00eam o frio mesmo em dias escaldantes, pisos de pedra que permanecem frescos, persianas que controlam a luz e projetam sombras precisas, p\u00e1tios internos que canalizam a brisa. A ideia de conforto sempre esteve profundamente ligada ao design das casas e \u00e0s solu\u00e7\u00f5es naturais. Para muitos europeus, representava um ideal artificial, excessivo e, de certa forma, desnecess\u00e1rio. Quem j\u00e1 viveu um ver\u00e3o europeu conhece bem o ritual: ventiladores discretos, janelas abertas criando ventila\u00e7\u00e3o cruzada e uma ta\u00e7a de vinho branco que serve mais como um gesto de refresco do que de celebra\u00e7\u00e3o.
